James Alvin Jones Sr., affectionately known, as "Jamie" was the son of the late Fred and Eva Jones. James was born in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, on January 24, 1939 and he departed this earth on December 25, 2013.
James attended the public schools in Kennett Square and Unionville. James lived in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, where he work for many years as a greens keeper for the Kennett Golf Club and then as a heavy machine operator for various mushroom companies. James had many friends in the Southern Chester County area.
James was a family man; his favorite pastimes were fishing and spending time with family. Many weekends and holidays were spent traveling to see relatives.
James leaves to cherish his memory his sons, James A. Jones Jr. Melody of West Grove, PA, Richard Jones Susan of West Grove, PA, Robert S. Jones of Connell, Washington, Steven Jones of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Shirley Jones of Coatesville, PA; their mother, Wanda P. Jones of Kennett Square, PA; twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; one brother, Charles Chambers of MD; three sisters, Betty Gwen of Wilmington, DE, Sharon Wilson of Jennersville, PA and Freda Chambers of Upper Darby, PA and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His brothers, Horace Jones, Robert Jones and Clarence E. Jones and two sisters, Charlotte Twyman Lincoln and Sara Monk, preceded James in death.
